Board of Management
The current Board of Management are constituted under the Governance Manual for Primary Schools from 2023 to 2027. The primary objective of a board of management is to ensure that the school is managed in
a manner that provides all of its pupils with the best possible education.
A Board of Management in Ireland is a statutory body (typically 8 members) appointed by a school's patron to manage a primary school on their behalf, ensuring it operates according to its ethos and Department of Education regulations.
Key Responsibilities & Functions
- Ethos and Policy: Upholding the characteristic spirit (ethos) of the school.
- Governance: Developing and implementing school policies (e.g., child protection, anti-bullying, admissions).
- Finance: Managing school funds, grants, and ensuring comprehensive insurance.
- Staffing: Recruiting and appointing teachers and other staff.
- School Plan: Overseeing the preparation and implementation of the School Plan.
